A traditional slate roofing project on a nursery in Leamington Spa.
Walkers Roofing competed this full restoration of a listing building roof with blue/grey slate tiles. The work included full re-roof with slates, lead gullys and lead chimney flashing, all meeting regulations and matching the original craftmanship.
Lee and his team reroofed our listed building. The project went really well, was started and completed on time and was delivered on budget. I was delighted with the standard of work, the professionalism with which the project was undertaken and the high quality finish of the outcome. Roofing work was regularly inspected by Building Control / Regulations throughout the project and always passed with flying colours.
The project was an interesting one because it was – after a two year battle with the planning department – the first listed building in the area which did not use native slate to re-roof. We had been unable to source the 4000 slates at the right colour and thickness from quarries or reclamation yards in the UK due to lack of availability, so Lee used his extensive knowledge of roofing materials to source a 98% geographically identical slate from Canada.
He then supported me throughout the planning appeal process so that the 30 year ban on using non-native slate could be revoked. I was so pleased with the work, that Walkers Roofing will be re-roofing my own home this summer!
